A Faint Hope
by Mike Loader and Lara Bartram
This story, brought to us by one of the minds that created the chilling Ranma 1/2 saga Ill Met by Starlight, teamed with the lady behind the great Wolf in Sheep's Clothing and Twisted Destiny series, is, of all things, a Ranma/Star Wars crossover -- and it's the funniest dang thing I've read in years! No joke! This has to be read to be believed, but I leave you with fair warning: When you read this, be sure you're in a place where you won't be embarrassed to bust up laughing out loud. I was in the school library when I read it, and had several rather irate librarians ready to toss me out by the time I was finished. ^_^
Ranma 1/2: The Shadow Chronicles
by Mark McKinnon
I know I've already mentioned this series on my regular Favorite Fanfic page, but I just had to mention it again. This series has officially exploded into a full-blown epic-saga, and with each new installment, it just keeps getting better -- which is quite a feat, since it started out Excellent. I have the privilege of being one of Mark's pre-readers, and I am consistently amazed at his talent of making me feel the full spectrum of emotion. From nail-biting dread at the dark themes he explores, to laughing out loud at the delightful way he somehow still manages to remain true to the more lighthearted aspects of both Takahashi's characters, and the humor of their romantic entanglements and misunderstandings.

When the first chapter of this fic hit the FFML (Fanfic Mailing List, for those of you who don't know), I suspected that this could be a very good story. When the second and third chapters followed quickly after, my suspicions were confirmed. The writing is smooth, eloquent and thick with vivid imagery, and the plot is thoroughly gripping. If I have any complaint at all, it's that, thus far, there are only three chapters in a fic that has epic written all over it! Even so, it's more than worth reading. Come on, Mr. Towler, you've got me hooked. Not that I'm in any position to be saying this, but... write faster, 'kay? ;)
A SpoofChase Production
by Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne
If you're a rabid fan of The Slayers like I am, you have just got to read this fic! Then again, if you're a rabid fan of The Slayers, you probably already have. But I'm spotlighting this fic anyway. Mr. Gagne has completely captured the feel of the anime -- the characters, the slapstick, and the serious fantasy -- with this brilliant story. I swear, reading it is the next best thing to watching the show! Not to mention that he's got the coolest fic web page format I've ever seen. Visit this site, and I promise you won't regret it.
